It’s been a while since my last post…I’m not quite sure where the first 6 months of 2016 has gone and sadly, my blog has been a bit neglected…until now!
The first half of 2016 has been pretty busy but exciting…here’s a quick recap of what’s happened so far…
Back in September last year I completed The Ultimate Portfolio Builder Course ran by the fabulous team at Make It In Design. Part of the course involves live design briefs and also a competiton to win a stand at the fabulous Printsource in New York. Whilst I didn’t win the final place at the show, I was absolutely thrilled to discover that I had been shortlisted for the final 8 which was a huge confidence boost! Here are the designs that I submitted and you can check out all the amazing finalists here.
I was also asked to be featured on the Make It In Design blog as an emerging designer where I did an interview and shared some of my recent work. You can see the post and read all about me and see some of my work here.
Hello Lovely is a bright and colourful range packed full of hearts, flowers and pretty patterns designed to raise a smile.
Jazzy is a range that has been specifically designed with men in mind to try and cater for more of the masculine market.
Cherished Moments features cute and colourful illustrations, designed to celebrate some of the special moments in life.
I was thrilled to see that two of my new ranges, Hello Lovely and Jazzy, were both featured on the fabulous Print and Pattern blog back in April which was a dream come true for me! I love the blog and felt very happy and proud to see my designs featured.
I’ve also been experimenting with my camera, gradually updating some of my product shots to make them look brighter and more interesting! Here are a few of the shots I’ve recently taken in my very light and airy extension…
I’m still freelancing for Dunelm and Avon on a wide variety of products which have really pushed and challenged me as a designer. I hope to be able to share some of the work I’ve been doing with them later on in the year when they launch.
I’m currently in the process of growing the wholesale side of my business too and am looking for any lovely, independent retailers and shops that might be interested in stocking some of my products. So if you’re looking for some new and exciting designs to add to your lovely shop, then please feel free to get in touch with me and I can send you a copy of my latest trade catalogue.
On that note, I’d really like to help spread the word about an amazing campaign…the JUST A CARD campaign aims to encourage people to buy from Designer/Makers and Independent Galleries and Shops by reinforcing the message that all purchases, however small, even ‘just a card’ are so vital to the prosperity and survival of small businesses. As a small, independent business myself, I can’t tell you how much we value and appreciate every single purchase that’s made, no matter how small it may be, even if it’s “just a card”. Each and every sale raises a smile and supports a dream. So if you like shopping from independent businesses and designer makers then help support the campaign, spread the word and have a little think when you need to buy a gift or a card. The next time you see something beautiful in a small independent gift shop or gallery, or online from a designer/maker, instead of thinking, “ooo how lovely” and then moving on, why not make someone’s day and buy it! It’s been designed and made with love by someone passionately pursuing a dream and your support is vital to help keep that dream alive. To download the logo or poster for your website or shop, or to read more about this fantastic campaign, visit www.justacard.org, and keep supporting small businesses!
Right, I’m signing off for now and will shortly be taking a much needed Summer holiday!
From the 15th June until the 6th July, the studio will be closed and any orders placed will be sent when I return on the 7th July. So if you’ve had your eye on something, there’s still a few days left to make a purchase! Head over to my shop now!
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
