I can’t quite believe it’s November already – where is this year going?! It seems I’ve blinked and missed October in my crazy busy little work bubble! It’s been a very hectic month, working on lots of different projects for Dunelm, personal bespoke gifts and some new card collections…read on for more information!
So I know Halloween is over, and Bonfire night has just passed, but there are still firework displays happening this weekend so I thought I’d share this bright and colourful print I’ve designed inspired by fireworks. Have fun and stay safe!
With the night’s drawing in, the temperature dropping and the weather turning, things are definitely starting to head towards winter and that means that something very exciting is on the way….Christmas!! With only 7 weeks left until the big man arrives, the festive shopping season is well underway and the shops are buzzing with super organised people buying early gifts and cards for friends and family.
Whilst it’s been a bit quiet on my blog over the last month, it’s been less than quiet in the studio! I’ve been busying away behind the scenes and am delighted to be able to share with you three, (yes three!) brand new Christmas card collections. Each range is different and features eight unique and individually hand drawn designs.
Merry & Bright is a fun and vibrant collection in a bold colour palette, featuring lots of fun and illustrative icons including snowmen, baubles and lots of lovely Christmas trees. You can see the whole collection here.
Deck the Halls is a beautiful new range featuring many of my favourite Christmas characters, including Rudolph, Frosty and of course, father Christmas himself! Each character sits inside their own individually designed bauble, ready and waiting to spread some festive cheer! Shop the full collection here
Festive Friends features hand drawn illustrations of eight adorable furry four legged friends, excited and ready for the Christmas season ahead. Each character has their own name and cheeky personality and are guaranteed to raise a smile. You can see Bertie, Oscar and all their friends here…why not treat yourself to a mixed pack and own all 8 characters! See them all here.
It’s been 6 months since I completed Module One of the Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design which I absolutely loved and learnt so much from. It helped me to discover and develop my signature style as a designer and I’ve been trying to design as much as possible since then! In fact, my Floral Burst greetings card collection was created from sketches and doodles I did during this module, which at the time, I didn’t think were very good drawings! But playing around with the motifs and adding colour completely transformed them, and allowed me to create a fun, bold collection of cards.
So after the excitement and buzz I felt from Module One, I was ready and raring to face what Module Two had to offer. Jam packed with information about trends, designing collections, marketing and building your own brand, I just know it’s going to be a valuable experience and help me to get a step closer to finding my place in this pattern filled world. Class started two weeks ago and unfortunately due to other personal projects and freelance work commitments, I am yet to find the time to make a start on the projects set but I hope to get stuck in soon! The great thing with this course is that you can download all the valuable course material and tackle it in your own time (it seems that a lot of us are in the same boat!). Come back soon to see how I get on…
And finally, today’s “Feel Good Friday” quote comes from me and is something I’ve really embraced this year, especially with taking part in the ABSPD course. It really does make a huge difference when you love what you do…it doesn’t feel like work at all!! Happy Friday everyone.
