I’ve realised today that it’s been quite a few months since my last post on here – whoops! I simply can’t keep up with how fast time is flying by this year and can’t quite believe that we’re nearly at the end of August already.
Quite a lot has happened since my last post at the end of May so I thought I’d fill you in on what I’ve been up to…
I was lucky enough to be able to take the whole of June off work and go on an amazing backpacking adventure with Henry around Vietnam. And wow, what an incredible month it was. We travelled all over, seeing as much of it as we could. So many people have since asked me what the highlight of our trip was but I just can’t pick one! It was all pretty incredible; staying in Ho Chi Minh City and doing a city food tour on mopeds; the Easy Rider tour around the De Lat region on the back of motorbikes to visit flower farms, coffee plantations, silk making factories and waterfalls; Hoi An and it’s beautiful buildings and products, including learning how to make grass sleeping mats and rice noodles; the stunning three day boat trip and kayaking with Indochina Junk around Bai Tu Long bay; trekking with a local guide around the stunning hills and rice paddies of Sapa; staying in a bamboo hut near the Mekong Delta; ending the trip in a beach side bungalow on the beautiful island of Phu Quoc. We did so many amazing things! There is so much to see and do, the food is amazing and the people are very friendly. It really was a fantastic trip and I would highly recommend a visit to Vietnam if you ever get the chance. I managed to take over 1500 photos during our trip which I still need to sort through, but here are a few of my favourite shots and you can see a few more over on my Instagram account.
Since returning from Vietnam, it’s been pretty hectic on the work front, working on lots of new projects and designs for Dunelm, as well as developing some new products for my shop which I hope to be able to share with you very soon. One of the collections I worked on a while ago with Dunelm has recently launched in stores and online which was really exciting to see. You can check out the full Geek Chic collection here.
In all the craziness and chaos of the last few weeks since I got home, I’ve missed the celebration of my business turning three! I can’t believe that it’s been three whole years since I took the plunge to set up on my own. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever done but I have to say that it’s also the best thing I’ve ever done. Every day is different and I feel so lucky to be able to do what I love for a living. I want to thank everyone who has supported me over the last three years on this amazing journey and everyone who continues to support and follow me today. I couldn’t do this without you!
